Friday’s Tossup

Shot a 45 on front and 44 on back for an 89. Reflecting on what I did well, I drove the ball well on all but one hole. 1st tee, smacked the ball into the middle of the fairway up the hill. Hit my second shot shot of the green in the first cut rough 30 yards short of the green. Tried to pitch and roll with my 8 iron. The grass near the green was wetter than I realized. Three putted for a bogey.  Hole two, I hit my 7 iron flag high and again, my pitch and roll was short. I bogeyed this par 3. Hole 4 I hit my drive to the right of the fairway behind the pine tree and hedge. Second shot found the right side bunker. Fluffy sand. Two shots out on green hitting 5 and give me for double bogey! 6 is a dogleg right. Hit my 6 iron off tee to carry the cart path right side of the fairway. 2 shot carried the water hazard sand trap got me. Yup, took 2 strokes to get out. Thursday’s Toss-up

I shot an 84 today. The weather was cool, but warmer than it’s been all week.  Uncrustables are my favorite sandwich while playing golf.  This hat was my zchrismas gift

Practicing at Home

As soon as our Governor’s  declaration of stay at home, I started looking for ways to keep fit and not let my limited golf skills completely disappear. BirdieBallsGolf.com sells a putting green mat. I watched several YouTube reviews of different putting mats. I was given one of those putting retriever by a good friend. It work perfectly. In researching this purchase, I liked the feature that the putting mat has grain so when you put from one end you have one surface speed or resistance and it’s different going to the other end. The mat let me place lumps in different places to change the brake of the hole. I could to do this without a putting mat. I can make the mat up hill or down hill too. The real test is how the practice is impacting my putting on the greens at the golf course. Does it keep me from 3 putting? Easy answer—No! But, I know it’s not the putter. I have sunk a few putts that I would have lagged up. So, I have seen some improvement.
